PI "Klasika LT" and the international M. K. Čiurlionis music festival are resenting two Lithuanian artists, a saxophonist Petras Vyšniauskas and a pianist Aleksandra Žvirblytė, returning for another spectacular duo performance “PROVOCATIONS”.
Provocations
“The concert of Petras Vyšniauskas with pianist Aleksandra Žvirblytė was enchanting. The idea is simply incredible. Pianist – a highly professional classical musician – plays a classical piece by score. At the same time, the soprano saxophone Petras on the top weaves improvisation. The repertoire varies - from Chopin to Philip Glass, including Bach along the way. The effect is breath-taking not only because of the riskiness of Petras, but also because the music is so subtle and intense that tears are shattered. An unforgettable concert, a real music lesson – a musician who appears with all openness, refuses any tricks, and directs all its technical capabilities to a sense of feeling…“

“Soprano saxophonist Petras Vysniauskas, a Lithuanian, is I believe one of the most profoundly original musicians concentrating on that instrument – his jagged phrases expanded on determinedly original intervals and his sound is powerful – stronger and more pointed than Sam Rivers has become, for instance, more densely concentrated than the late Steve Lacy, if not polyphonic in the manner of Evan Parker.”
Howard Mandel, New York City, USA
“Aleksandra Žvirblytė is a musician with perfect technical abilities. She creates a sensitive musical picture right on the scene. Her performance is not only technically perfect but emotionally and spiritually inspired. Her brilliant technique is only a tool for her to express the original perception of the music she plays.”
